If you love skiing in Europe, you probably know that some of the best ski resorts are located in French Alps. If you are planning to ski in France in winter or in search of a winter wonderland, I recommend that you consider spending your vacation in Megève. In Megève there are different type of hotels for any traveller, including those travellers who love luxury hotels and excellent service. If you are searching for a luxury resort in French Alps I think Four Seasons Megève is exactly what you are looking for.
Two different properties with different charm
Four Seasons offers two different properties in Megève – one on the top of the Mont d’Arbois and the other at the bottom of the domain.
Four Seasons Hotel Megève is elegant and modern Hotel with French charm and pure Alpine tradition. Les Chalets du Mont d’Arbois, Megève, A Four Seasons Hotel is a sister property to Four Seasons Hotel Megève. Les Chalets du Mont d’Arbois are charming traditional wooden chalets with an Alpine atmosphere. The chalets reflect the rich heritage of the Edmond de Rothschild family, who established the town as a ski destination a century ago. I’ve stayed in both properties and they are very different, check which one of these two is more suitable for your style before booking a room.
Location and activities
Both Four Seasons properties in Megève have perfect locations and beautiful views. It’s easy to arrive to Four Seasons Megève by car, you can drive directly from Geneva, it will take you about 1 hour. If your plan is a ski vacation, Four Seasons Hotel Megève is a perfect place to stay, the Hotel has direct access to the slopes – Ski-in Ski-out. Four Seasons Megève is a pet friendly hotel, which means you can take your pet with you, they will be glad to welcome you together. They also offer fun activities with dogs, such as sledding with Husky or walking in the snow with Hotel’s lovely dog Nemo. You can always ask at the reception to meet Nemo and have a fun walk or take a picture with him.
Food and Service
Four Seasons Megève offers an excellent service, absolutely everyone who works in both properties is friendly and helpful. You feel yourself a special and welcome guest before the chek-in.
Four Seasons Megève has a good selection of restaurants for every taste, considering that both properties are located in the Alps, it’s wonderful that you won’t get bored with the menu, for example, they have a Japanese restaurant Kaito, not every hotel in the Alps has restaurants with different types of cuisine. Four Seasons Hotel Megève serves a buffet breakfast plus a selection of a la carte dishes. Everything I tasted was fresh and delicious. I loved having lunch on the terrace of the Bar Edmond with fabulous view of the snowy peaks, especially when it’s sunny. If you already had or want to skip the lunch you can just enjoy your drink at the terrace while admire the view. The lunch menu offers also healthy options, which I think is great. The first night we had a late dinner at the Bar Edmond, there is a small but nice menu. On the second evening we had dinner at the French restaurant La Table de Noemie, we took fondue with champagne, and it was amazing. If you love sweets, you can enjoy pastries in the Four Seasons lobby during a tea time or eat pancakes with hot chocolate outside. I really love the idea of pancakes after skiing or walking, they do it right at the main entrance, you won’t miss it. And last, but not the least Four Seasons Megève has impressive wine cellar with more than 15,000 bottles of the finest wines from France and beyond. If you are wine lover and you wish to have a unique experience, you can enjoy a private dinner or have a wine tasting at their wine cellar.
Spa and Pools
The Four Seasons Megève Spa is absolutely stunning, they have a large indoor-outdoor pool. I had a 45-minute body massage and it was great, I didn’t want to leave the massage room. If you love spa treatments, I highly recommend you to book a face or body treatment at this hotel. The Spa area of Les Chalets du Mont d’Arbois, A Four Seasons Hotel is smaller than in the sister property, but very charming and cozy. It also has an indoor-outdoor pool with view of mountains and town.
